Didaktik: Rasmussen & Sorensen's recipe for learning

Learning is creation, distribution and acquisition of knowledge.

Knowledge develops in rendezvous of people and their texts, theories, methods and that phenomenon we name facts.

Intelligent people and eloquent texts puts light on information, which give substance to the process of learning. A suitable method gives form to the learning. Relevant theories invite you to think for yourself. To produce and organise information is a healthy reality-check.

If we methodically interpret information with the help of theories we might know something real about reality. Information thus turns into facts and become knowledge. Information without a methodical interpretation is just a dead heap of data. Poor scientists only have methodology and theory to cover their bones.

Learning takes time, long time. You may learn as much enjoying your freedom and a good book on a café, as in boredom at the university. But a deadline is very useful. There is nothing as motivating as a deadline.

Learning and research are planned but unforeseeable travels into unknown territories. You find your way by asking the right questions. When you have found the questions, the answers are within sight. You’ll need intuition and tutoring to find the right questions.

  • Your thesis on H.C. Andersen needs a little something - salt and pepper perhaps? We add tasteful metaphors and crispy clichés. And guide you to knowledge about the person and his period.

  • You are requested to produce an analysis of a weird picture of René Magritte. Your tutor doesn’t understand why you think it’s incomprehensible. Quite right, it’s weird. But there is sanity in the weirdness. Why? You’ll see.

  • Your thesis about the cold war has struck a reef. What did happen, and what did not happen in Hungary and Egypt in 1956? The sources are very contradicting. We’ll get you afloat.
