Jeg er Imperiet i dekadencens sidste dage
Som ser høje, blonde barbarer begå
Ligeglade forbrydelser, i en stil som guld
Hvori det dovne solskin danser.

Je suis l'Empire à la fin de la décadence
Qui regarde passer les grands barbares blancs
En composant des acrostiches indolents,
D'un style d'or où la langueur du soleil danse

I am the Empire in the last of its decline,
That sees the tall, fair-haired Barbarians pass, - the while
